Frequently Asked Questions

Private Pool Suite FAQs

What does the Private Pool Suite at Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa look out on?
The suite has mountain views and sits within the resort's rainforest setting at the foot of Arenal Volcano. The resort is set in a 900-acre rainforest reserve. The dry season, December to April, gives the best chance of clear volcano views.
How do I use the private hot tub in the Private Pool Suite?
The suite has its own private indoor hot tub, so you can soak in the privacy of your room at any hour. It is separate from the resort's shared thermal pools, which you can also visit during your stay.
What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a shower, towels, bathrobes, slippers and designer toiletries, plus a hair dryer. Daily housekeeping and turndown service are provided.
What is included in the rate for this suite?
Tabacón is not all-inclusive, but your rate includes the buffet breakfast at Los Tucanes, a welcome cocktail, access to the thermal hot-spring experience and to the adults-only Shangri-La Gardens, plus valet parking and WiFi. Hotel guests also get early access to the thermal waters from 8:00 to 10:00 AM. Spa treatments and dinners cost extra.
Is the Private Pool Suite good for couples, families or longer stays?
It is made for couples. It is reserved for two adults aged 18 and over, with one king bed and a private hot tub. Families with children should look at the resort's other room types, as children are welcome elsewhere at Tabacón. For a longer stay, the 250+ Mbps WiFi, desk, minibar, coffee and tea maker and daily housekeeping make the suite comfortable.
Is there a beach near the suite, and how close are the pools and restaurants?
La Fortuna is inland, so there is no beach nearby. The closest ocean is about three hours away by car. The resort's thermal pools, which form a network of natural hot springs, are on property. Guests can eat at Los Tucanes for breakfast and à la carte dinner, at Ave del Paraíso, at Caña Brava Lobby Bar, at Bosque Bar, or at the Agua Ardiente swim-up pool bar. Reservations are recommended at each venue.
Can I arrange airport transport to Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa?
The resort offers a roundtrip airport shuttle for a surcharge, which must be requested at least 72 hours before arrival. The nearest airport is La Fortuna/Arenal (FON), about 6 miles away. San José's Juan Santamaría airport is roughly a 2.5 to 3.5 hour drive. Valet parking is free for guests who drive.
How does the Private Pool Suite compare to the resort's other room categories?
The Private Pool Suite is one of three categories at Tabacón reserved exclusively for adults, alongside the Rainforest Room and Volcano View Suite. What sets it apart is the private indoor hot tub in the room itself, so you are not relying on the shared thermal pools for a soak. At 753 sq. ft. with mountain views, 1 king bed and the same high-speed WiFi, minibar and daily housekeeping found across the resort's top categories, it is built for guests who want the most privacy within their room.
Who can book the Private Pool Suite?
This suite is set aside for couples only — the primary guest must be 18 or older, and the room is capped at two adults. It is not paired with cribs or rollaway beds, which keeps it a dedicated adults' retreat. Families traveling with children are welcome at Tabacón, just in one of the resort's other room types.
Is the Private Pool Suite in a quiet part of the resort?
Because the Private Pool Suite is part of Tabacón's adults-only room tier, it sits apart from the resort's family traffic, giving the suite a naturally calmer, more private atmosphere. Paired with the blackout drapes and air conditioning in the room, it suits guests looking to unwind after a day at the springs without the noise of a family-oriented wing.
