Frequently Asked Questions
Volcano View Suite FAQs
What does the Volcano View Suite at Tabacón look out on?
The suite has garden and mountain views, and the resort sits at the foot of Arenal Volcano inside a 900-acre rainforest reserve. Clouds can cover the volcano, and the dry season from December to April gives the best chance of clear views. Rainy-season mornings are often clearer than afternoons.
Does the suite have a private hot tub?
Yes, the suite has a private indoor hot tub, so you can soak without leaving the room. For the resort's natural thermal pools, you head out to the springs with your room rate's thermal access. Hotel guests also get early access from 8:00 to 10:00 AM.
What is the bathroom like?
The private bathroom has a shower, designer toiletries, towels, a hair dryer, bathrobes and slippers. Daily housekeeping and turndown service keep it restocked.
Is the Volcano View Suite suitable for families?
No. The Volcano View Suite is an adults-only category for guests 18 and older, with a maximum of two adults per room. Tabacón as a whole welcomes children, but this suite does not. Couples looking for a quiet stay will find it a good fit.
What is included with my stay in this suite?
Tabacón is not all-inclusive, but quoted rates typically include the daily breakfast buffet at Los Tucanes, a welcome cocktail, free WiFi, access to the thermal springs, the adults-only Shangri-La Gardens and valet parking. Spa treatments and other extras cost more. Book spa treatments and restaurant tables in advance.
How does this suite compare with other adults-only rooms at Tabacón?
The Rainforest Room, Volcano View Suite and Private Pool Suite are all adults-only categories limited to two adults. The Volcano View Suite gives you 753 sq. ft. and an indoor hot tub with mountain views. The Private Pool Suites are the ones with thermal plunge pools, so choose one of those if you want a private soak outdoors.
Is the resort close to a beach, and what dining is on site?
La Fortuna is inland, so there is no beach nearby. The closest ocean is about three hours by car, and the thermal springs are the main draw. On site, Los Tucanes serves breakfast from 6:30 to 10:30 AM and dinner from 6:00 to 10:00 PM. Ave del Paraíso serves lunch and dinner by the springs. Room service runs limited hours, and reservations are recommended at the restaurants.
What should I know about arrival and check-out?
Check-in begins at 3:00 PM and check-out is at noon. If you arrive early, you can store your luggage and use the thermal pools from 10:00 AM while your suite is prepared. A valid passport or ID and a credit card are required at check-in. The resort is smoke-free and does not allow pets.
